About

Welcome! I'm Brian, the creator of the Resonator. I want to share a bit about myself and the journey that led to the development of this disc golf innovation.

Engineering Background:

I hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC San Diego and have had the privilege of working in various engineering roles throughout my career. From manufacturing and process engineering to design, test, stress analysis, composites, and project engineer, each experience has added a layer to my perception and understanding of how things work - and how they can possibly work better.

Passion for Disc Golf:

Beyond the world of engineering, disc golf has been a consistent source of fun for me. I mean, yeah, I miss 12 foot putts more often than I'd like to admit, but I also drain 50 foot putts on occasion! I drive pretty well FH & BH, usually directly into the only tree. Wish I had more time for fieldwork so I can destroy my friends but alas, I love the sport anyways. What I notice about the sport that's different than most is it feels like a community. My drive to create the Resonator emerged from a desire to contribute something meaningful to the community.

The Journey to Resonator™:

As an avid disc golfer, I had often been frustrated to have to end rounds prematurely because we've lost too much sunlight after work. Like many of us that want to play beyond daylight, I turned to using glow discs, which is a uniquely fun experience. However, the typical processes to charge the glow discs killed the flow of the course for me and my friends. I searched for a solution on the market, and tried a few, but nothing hit the mark. If there was an effortless, effective process for charging glow discs, I believe every single disc golfer would play glow, especially when the days get shorter. We were stuck with fumbling flashlights or remote controls, or something ineffective or that temporarily ruins your night vision. I've seen members of glow leagues slap together all manner of strange apparatuses - heavy boxes and bags that leak light, temporarily blinding opponents, bulky batteries that stay on and die mid round - Some disc golfers were still using their phone flashlights because there was barely a better option.

I started to envision a better product to charge the glow discs - based on ease of use. As an engineer and obsessive tinkerer, I put my design experience to work in the garage workshop. I began to Frankenstein a prototype. It was clumsy at first, but after a few dozen prototype iterations, as well as encouraging feedback from card-mates, glow leagues, and pro-shops, I have refined the design to be a very elegant solution. With its quick, easy, and effective operation, it solves all of the problems we experience on the course. And it can be integrated into backpacks, roll-carts, or shoulder bags.

I invite you to join me on this journey as we explore the possibilities of what a small innovation can bring to our shared passion for disc golf. Your support means the world, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful community. I hope all the meticulously designed elements of the Resonator™ ring true with you!

Warm regards,
