Frequently Asked Questions

What is this Resonator thing?
-
The Resonator is a device that charges glow-in-the-dark discs for the sport of Disc Golf. Glow Disc Golf is a uniquely fun experience - and highly recommended! However, even if you are not throwing glow at midnight, glow discs are very nice on the eyes when throwing at dusk after work.
-
-
Where’s the ON button?
-
The Resonator is automatically powered ON when the disc is fully inserted.
-
It automatically powers OFF immediately when the disc is removed.

-
Will the Resonator fit in my bag/backpack/cart?
-
All 3 models have identical housings. The important dimensions for fitting the Resonator in your rig are the width and depth of the insert (body): 9" x 1½" Insert - with a circumference of 20.75". Generally anywhere you can fit 2 domed out putters with a little wiggle room.
-
There may be a bag out there somewhere that the Resonator won't fit in, but we can't find it. Usually there are a couple options for how a Disc Golfer can mount the Resonator.
-
For backpacks we've seen it able to slide in most putter pouches, every utility pouch, and often side slots too!
-
For shoulder bags it usually fits in the side slot or net pocket, but if not it always fits in the main compartment (takes up the thickness of 2 putters).
-
Carts are often highly customized and we have always seen a convenient home for the Resonator.

I have an external battery pack. Will the Resonator work while being plugged in to charge?
-
Yes! Glow Disc Golfers love the fact that there is no external battery pack, but if you keep an external battery pack as a backup, the Resonator can be used while being plugged into the USB-C port.

-
I have a light strip in my backpack. Why would I want a Resonator?
-
We love DIY everything! It’s actually how we started and the concept for making it better and better inspired us.
-
We started with UV flashlights. We didn’t like stepping up to the tee with bulky flashlights in our pockets. We also didn’t like stashing it and retrieving it for every throw.
-
We bought $10 light strips and made a few ‘glow ovens’ in our backpacks. We then proceeded to night-blind ourselves with every disc pull. We tried to remedy that issue by fiddling with the ON/OFF switches, but were not thrilled with that process either. Also, the light strips would get knocked around and damaged.
-
We wanted something automatic, awesomely bright but self-contained, durable & robust that was easy to use: So the Resonator began to take shape!
-

-
I already bought a Brand X glow disc charger. Why would I re-buy and go for the Resonator?
-
There are few cool and interesting designs out there with various features, but none that hit all the marks that the Resonator does. Every glow Disc Golfer that has experienced the Resonator seems to just love it.

- Which Resonator variant is right for me? LITE, Original, or PRO?
- LITE - is a premium product while still being budget friendly. With the recommended 3 second Disc Dip & Roll (glow charging) the LITE lasts approximately 212 glows on average. That is 3.9 standard rounds! (18 holes X 3 glows per hole)
- ORIGINAL - While still being budget friendly, this variant has 30% longer life than the LITE at approximately 274 glows per battery charge when using 3 second dips. That is 5.1 standard rounds! It is also about 24% brighter than the LITE.
- PRO - This design has been merged with the "CREW" with upgraded components. A single battery charge lasts an incredible 749 glows. That is 254% longer life than the LITE; at 13.9 standard rounds!! (18 holes X 3 glows per hole). This model is best for those of us that want to throw as much glow as they want and don't ever want to worry about dead battery. It is also about 76% brighter than the LITE.

- How badly is it going to get messed up if you put a dirty disc in there?
- It is recommended to clean each disc before dipping into the Resonator. However, The durable construction (internal LED protection cage) can handle some debris. Cleaning instructions can be found HERE
- We developed the "force field" add-on to make the cleaning process quick and easy. You can quickly knock off the crud before re-dipping.
- Ultimately, you can remove the light leak protection brushes to clean the chamber.

- What happens if I put a wet disc in there?
- We've played many rounds after sprinklers and dew and muddy lies. We developed the "Force Field" to help alleviate some of the foreign object and excess moisture. It is recommended to clean & wipe the discs prior to dip charging. As with most electronic consumer products, the Resonator is water resistant but not waterproof.
